A vision for farming communities in Cameroon
A message from Élisabeth Atangana, president of CNOP-CAM.

A message from the president
Dear farmers, members and partners,
Welcome to the CNOP-CAM website, a space for dialogue, knowledge sharing and collective action in support of farmers’ organisations in Cameroon.
My vision is of an organised, respected and prosperous Cameroonian farming community: family farms that can feed our country, earn a dignified living and pass on fertile land, knowledge and protected natural resources to future generations. Across our ten regions, the diversity of crops, landscapes and experience is a strength we must nurture together.
Women and young people are at the heart of this rural transformation. Access to land, training, appropriate finance and leadership in our organisations must create real opportunities. Producing, processing and marketing locally keeps value in rural communities and gives agricultural careers a future.
We champion family farming rooted in agroecology, farmers’ knowledge and innovation. Protecting soils, water, seeds and biodiversity, adapting to climate risks and connecting producers with consumers are mutually reinforcing commitments. Promoting Cameroonian food brings these ambitions into everyday life.
Our strength lies in dialogue and collective action. Strong organisations and a shared voice help defend farmers’ interests, build useful services and engage public authorities, research institutions and partners. We want decisions about rural development to be informed by the realities of farming communities.
I invite every member, young person, rural woman and partner to join this effort. Together, let us make agriculture a source of dignity, solidarity and sustainable development for Cameroon.
For responsible and united action together.
